Blessed.

“Blessed be the LORD,” David writes in Psalm 144…

my FORTRESS. The safe haven to whom I can flee.

my SHIELD. The protector in whom I can trust.

my DELIVERER. The warrior in whom is ultimate victory.

my ROCK. The mountain upon whom I can build my life.

my STRONGHOLD. The tower of safety in whom I can abide.

my STEADFAST LOVE. The faithful promise-keeper who will never leave me nor forsake me.

“Blessed be the LORD,” indeed.

O LORD, what is man that you regard him,
or the son of man that you think of him? (144:3)

What is man? Needy. In need of a fortress, a shield, a deliverer, a rock, and a stronghold. What is man? Unworthy of and desperate for steadfast love. Blessed be the LORD for recognizing and perfectly, graciously, abundantly providing for our greatest needs, wholly unworthy as we are.

Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall!
Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! (144:15)

Blessed. May we realize how truly blessed we are. May your time in his presence today be a blessing. May you be blessed by the people whose God is the LORD. Even more, may you be a blessing to others and to the LORD from whom all blessings flow.

Happy Lord’s day.
