Today’s Bible reading is 2 Peter 1. Verses 5 through 8 are worth mentally “chewing on” throughout the day if you’re committed to growing closer to God.
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Pet 1:5-8)
If you’re a Christian, you started with faith. Without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Heb 11:6). But what’s next? Your faith must be supplemented. And what are the God-revealed supplements that can help your walk with Christ be as healthy and fruitful as possible?
Virtue. Knowledge. Self-control. Steadfastness. Godliness. Brotherly affection. Love.
These qualities can be yours and can be increasing, every day. That’s a challenge worth focusing on and applying yourself towards today.
