In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:16)
What are these “flaming darts”? Who is this “evil one”? And why should I be concerned with taking up “the shield of faith” in “all circumstances”?
This sermon explores the ancient and deadly fiery arrows of the evil one–darts that can be seen flying as early as the Garden of Eden.
- Challenging God’s will
- Twisting God’s words
- Minimizing God’s goodness
- Doubting God’s strictness
- Defying God’s judgment
- Disparaging God’s love
- Lying about the consequences
What difference can the “shield of faith” make in the life of a disciple of Jesus? Where can I find it? How do I use it?
