In Luke 8, we read about Jesus healing a man who had been severely demon-possessed. “For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs” (Luke 8:27). When Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” the response was “Legion,” for many demons had entered him (Luke 8:30). Jesus proves his absolute superiority over these demons by casting them into a herd of pigs and completely healing this tormented man.
Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. (Luke 8:35).
The man who has been healed begs that he might go with Jesus,
…but Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. (Luke 8:38-39)
You aren’t demon-possessed, but what would you share? If Jesus were to say to you, “Share how much God has done for you,” where would you begin? What would you include? Who would you share it with?
And when you stop long enough to think about it, aren’t we supposed to be following in this healed man’s footsteps? We weren’t demon-possessed, but Jesus has done so much for us. Is there anyone you could share that good news with today?
